An exhibition of photographs and illustrations, #narativ, dedicated to human rights, has opened at Comrat State University

The #narativ exhibition of photographs and illustrations dedicated to human rights opened on November 13, 2024, at the administrative building of Comrat State University (CSU), on the first-floor lobby, located at: Republic of Moldova, Comrat Municipality, Galatsana Street, 17. The exhibition reflects various aspects of human rights through materials (photos and illustrations) prepared in recent years as part of the annual Tulip Press Awards competition. The exhibition is organized by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Republic of Moldova in partnership with the Center for Independent Journalism (CJI), Piko Creative Agency, and Comrat State University (CSU).

At the opening of the exhibition, welcoming speeches were made by the rector of CSU, Assoc. Prof, PhD Serghei Zaharia, the mayor of Comrat Serghei Anastasov, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Republic of Moldova H.E. Fred Duijn and the Executive Director of CJI Nadine Gogu.

The works are exhibited in five categories that address several aspects of human rights: children's rights, the rights of girls and women, diversity and inclusion, human rights on the left bank of the Nistru River, and the right to a healthy environment. Each category features local stories illustrating how these rights have been violated and how each case was resolved. The aim of the exhibition is to raise awareness about different human rights violations and about groups or communities vulnerable to these problems. The exhibition creates a space for discussion and reflection to raise awareness among young people.

The launch of the #narativ exhibition was followed by discussions with students on how the media can contribute to improving education, awareness and respect for human rights in Moldova, the role of journalists, creative thinking and the development of a new online dictionary of the Gagauz language. The discussion was moderated by Daria Slobodcicova, journalist of NewsMaker; Natalia Grîu, expert in media education and KChiril Jelezov, project coordinator of the Public Organization “Gagauz.Online”, moderated by Elena Cristian, representative of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The exhibition can be visited in the foyer of the first floor of the administrative building of Comrat State University until December 4, 2024. Each photo or series of photos and illustrations has a brief content and a QR code that presents the whole story.
