An open lecture titled “Ağız Araştırmaları Paneli” was organized at Comrat State University

From November 18 to 22, 2024, as part of the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility program, professors from Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Türkiye, Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Boz and Doç. Dr. Fatih Doğru, visited Comrat State University (CSU).

The highlight of their visit was an open lecture held on November 21, 2024, on the topic “Ağız Araştırmaları Paneli.” The event was moderated by CSU / Bursa Uludağ University professor Doç. Dr. Şükrü Baştürk.

The lecture was opened by CSU Rector, Assoc. Prof., PhD Serghei Zaharia, who, in his opening remarks, emphasized the importance of such events for strengthening international academic ties and developing the Gagauz language.

During the lecture, the following presentations were delivered:

  • Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Boz spoke on the topic: “Türkiye’nin İlk Dil Atlası ‘Eskişehir İli Dil Atlası’.” He presented the initial results of a project aimed at creating a linguistic atlas of the Eskişehir region. This project could serve as a valuable model for developing a similar atlas for the Gagauz language, making a significant contribution to its preservation and study.
  • Doç. Dr. Fatih Doğru delivered a report titled “Ağız Araştırmalarında Amaç ve Yöntemler,” in which he elaborated on the goals and methods of dialect research. The methods presented could become an important tool for future linguists working in Gagauz philology.

At the end of the event, the CSU Rector presented the participants with letters of appreciation and handcrafted souvenirs, felt paintings in a traditional style, prepared by CSU / Aksaray University lecturer Öğr. Gör. Deniz Gümüş, who teaches this technique to students of the Department of Gagauz Philology and History during elective classes.

The organization of such lectures plays a key role in strengthening academic and cultural ties between universities in Turkey and Gagauzia. Cooperation among universities in Moldova, Gagauzia, and Turkey opens new opportunities for experience exchange, joint research projects, and the development of linguistic studies. It also contributes to the promotion of the Gagauz language and culture on an international level while strengthening friendly relations between countries.

Comrat State University expresses gratitude to the participants and hopes for further successful cooperation within international educational programs.
