The rector of Comrat State University participated in the joint meeting of the National Councils of Rectors of Romania and the Republic of Moldova

Rectors from more than 70 universities in Romania and 18 universities in the Republic of Moldova gathered in Chișinău (Republic of Moldova) at the Technical University of Moldova for a session of the Council of Rectors of the Republic of Moldova and the National Council of Rectors (CNR) of Romania. The meeting included the rector of Comrat State University, Assoc. prof, PhD Serghei ZAHARIA. The event took place on September 13, 2024, with support from the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova under the Government of Romania, providing a convenient platform for strengthening inter-institutional relationships between universities on both sides of the Prut River in the context of Moldova's pursuit of candidate country status in the European Union and the reform of higher education. “Close cooperation at the university level will create a favorable environment for sharing experiences and best practices, facilitating the adaptation and improvement of the higher education and research system in the Republic of Moldova to European standards, while simultaneously creating opportunities for the development of Romanian universities,” stated Professor Emil CEBAN, President of the Council of Rectors of the Republic of Moldova (CRRM) and rector of the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, at the beginning of the conference. The Council of Rectors of the Republic of Moldova will have the status of a permanent guest at all meetings of the National Council of Rectors (CNR) of Romania, which will help strengthen relationships for our country's accession to the EU. CNR President of Romania, Professor Sorin Mihai CÎMPIANU, emphasized that “the integration of universities from the Republic of Moldova into the European academic space is a very important step.” “I would like to learn from the experiences of Romanian universities, whether it be attracting foreign students, international activities, or best practices. The level of our success depends solely on us and on the resources, we can attract for the implementation of European projects and programs,” noted Dan PERCIUN, Minister of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova. Higher education institutions from both countries will cooperate in implementing commitments made under the Bologna Process. Romanian universities will also provide Moldovan universities access to their educational and research infrastructure to improve the outcomes of Moldovan research teams. As a result of the joint meeting of the National Councils of Rectors of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, a “Resolution of the National Councils of Rectors of Romania and the Republic of Moldova” was developed, approved, and adopted (for the content of the resolution, please refer to the following link: https://cdn.edupedu.ro/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Rezolutie_CNR_Ro_Md_2024.pdf)
