
On October 18, 2024, a meeting between students and postgraduates and the Romanian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Cristian-Leon Țurcanu, took place at Comrat State University. This event provided a valuable platform for discussing Moldova’s European future and the opportunities offered by the European Union (EU), as well as Romania’s active role in the integration process. The students showed great interest in the topic of Moldova’s cooperation with European countries, particularly Romania, which is a member of the EU. During the meeting, discussions covered important issues such as studying, working, and living in EU countries, as well as the significance of learning Romanian, an official EU language. The participants demonstrated a strong awareness of and engagement with European matters. Mr. Țurcanu commended the students’ high level of preparation and expressed his satisfaction with the discussions. The questions raised by students focused not only on educational and professional opportunities within the EU but also on preserving the cultural and linguistic traditions of small nations, including the Gagauz people, in a globalized world. The Ambassador stressed that European integration is not about losing one’s identity but rather about the opportunity to protect traditions and values in a stable and prosperous environment. He also shared his personal career journey and how European opportunities had influenced his professional life. A key part of the meeting was dedicated to discussing future collaborative projects between Comrat State University and Romanian universities. Mr. Țurcanu noted that proficiency in the Romanian language opens doors to numerous educational and professional opportunities within the EU, which he sees as crucial for young professionals in Moldova to build successful futures. The topic of Moldova’s European future resonated with the students of Comrat State University, who shared their thoughts on the advantages of EU membership, as well as the challenges that still exist on the path to integration.
