Comrat State University Joined the Global Academic Infrastructure eduGAIN

Students, lecturers, and researchers of Comrat State University (CSU) have gained secure and convenient access to a wide range of international digital academic services thanks to the university’s accession to eduGAIN — a global federation for authentication and authorization in the research and education environment. The eduGAIN service connects more than 80 national federations worldwide and over 8,000 identity and service providers, offering users a single access point to numerous scientific and educational resources. With a single CSU account, users can log in to hundreds of platforms participating in international research and educational projects. OnOctober 10, 2025, CSU hosted an informational seminar by the National Research and Education Network RENAM, dedicated to promoting the eduGAIN service among the research and education community of the Republic of Moldova. The seminar was opened by the Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations, Assoc. prof. PhD Svetlana Ghenova, who emphasized the importance of digital services for research, teaching, online learning, video conferencing, data sharing, and access to international libraries and journals. After the successful implementation of eduroam, which provides secure Wi-Fi access, CSU continues its collaboration with RENAM to integrate new digital solutions supporting the development of the university’s infrastructure. During the seminar, RENAM specialists Valentin Pocotilenko and Olga Popcova presented several key services available through eduGAIN and other platforms, including:

-FileSender – secure transfer of large files https://filesender.renam.md

-eduVPN – protected connection to the university’s internal resources and external academic networks;

-Erasmus+ App, LifeWatch ERIC, CLARIN – international services providing access to scientific data, educational materials, and digital libraries;

-EOSC EU Node Services – a set of tools for research activities (cloud computing, data storage and transfer, virtual machines, interactive notebooks, etc.).

More than 30 representatives of the CSU administration, faculty, and students took part in the seminar, actively discussing the integration of the presented services into the university’s educational and research processes. The RENAM network continues to support Moldovan universities in joining the national identity management federation LEAF (Moldovan Research and Education Identity Federation), ensuring secure and efficient access to digital research and educational resources.
